Your FREE guide to Project Management (and lots of other good stuff!)

Project Management
Most of the tabs (Project fundamentals, etc.) refer to the main aspects of project management. Under each tab there is a series of pages, each covering a topic (like risk management or project teams), with a summary of the main ideas, an audio programme that tells the story of a real project that relates to the topic, and often some useful tools.

Happiness is, perhaps, the ultimate goal of all our lives. Yet we have very different ideas about what happiness actually means. Here are stories about a number of different types of vehicle that I think deserve to be told. I have put together a comprehensive study of battery-electric commercial vehicles in Britain since the late nineteenth century. I consider whether the London Transport Routemaster bus deserved its vaunted reputation. There is a detailed account of the Class 142 Pacer trains that ran in the UK for nearly 40 years and a couple of tales about influential American bus designs.
Travellers' tales
Whether it's around Britain, or around the world, I have always been fascinated by new places. In this section there are stories about trips across the British Isles and on to Canada, Germany, Australia and - in search of a mysterious and delicious treat - New Zealand. If you are thinking of visiting anywhere I have written about, you might find some useful tips.
Design matters
Everything that is made is designed, from a soup spoon to a supertanker. Much writing about design is preoccupied with aesthetics and pays - in my opinion - too little attention to other vital aspects. Perhaps this helps to explain why so many designs turn out to be sub-optimal at best, or ghastly failures at worst. I offer some different slants on design.
