Project library

Compared with other fields of study, there are relatively few books about project management.  The number of general textbooks is quite limited, although there are more titles to choose from about particular aspects like risk, agile and the role of the project manager.  And people don’t seem to be writing new general textbooks so the content is becoming rather outdated.  Likewise there is a dearth of good books about actual projects.  Those that exist tend to be about buildings, bridges, cars, ships, aerospace etc.  They are overwhelming about American or British projects and the British ones are overwhelmingly about projects in and around London.

I have built up my own collection of project books which are listed in the catalogue and should be obtainable through library loan if not outright purchase.  There are also a few DVDs mentioned.  Often drama DVDs have an ‘extras’ section which contains an insight into the project of making the movie.  There are also a few documentary DVDs about real projects.  This project library catalogue will expand as I spend even more time scouring charity shops and second hand bookshops!
